It was early morning in Amboseli when I was already scouting the area with Raymond, my guide. We spotted this group of elephants not far away, but they walked in the opposite direction to where we were. Suddenly something extraordinary happened and they started running to us. They were really scared for some reason, most probably due to the presence of a predator in the proximity. And in the middle of their run away they stopped just in front of me for a few seconds. Despite the short time, I had my camera ready and could take this photograph, which is one of my favorites of that expedition to Kenya. The composition and mainly the direct eyes contact between this family of elephants and me, makes it a very soulful and special image.
